How to update Noggin

When a newer Noggin is on nogginusa.com, the notch offers it after launch. You can also pull it yourself: Settings → General, Check for Updates at the top. That downloads the disk image. Drag Noggin to Applications, then reopen.

Settings → General. Check for Updates is at the top.

The actual moves

  1. When a newer Noggin is patched in, the notch opens on its own after launch. Download, or tap Later.
  2. To check yourself: click the gear in the notch, or Noggin in the menu bar → Settings. General is first.
  3. Check for Updates sits at the top of General. If a newer build is up, tap Download. The disk image lands in Downloads and opens.
  4. Drag Noggin to Applications, replace the old copy, then reopen from Applications.

The unsigned beta still needs Open Anyway the first time on a Mac, same as install. After that, replacing the app in Applications is enough. Noggin opens the disk image only if its checksum matches the update feed.

Later skips that version so the notch does not keep asking. Check for Updates in General still shows it if you change your mind.
